This Mug was hand-formed using the Potter's wheel made with a white stoneware clay body. A handle was added then painted with a slip. Once the slip has dried a bit, I used the Sgraffito technique to create the design and texture on the surface of the mug. I use various loop tools to carve through the slip. Once the mug is dry, the mug is first bisque fired and then it is glazed in a matte transparent glaze and fired again to 2170 degree.
This size was created for soup but could also be used as a large cappuccino.
